The Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization (incorporated in Maryland in 1979 as a 501 (c)6 non-profit business organization) dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the general welfare and prosperity of the Poolesville Area, its citizens, and its business community.
The Poolesville Area encompasses the upper western region of Montgomery County, Maryland, including the towns of Barnesville, Beallsville, Boyds, Comus, Dawsonville, Dickerson, Jerusalem, Martinsburg, Poolesville, and Seneca and their surrounding areas.
Our business services include providing businesses with marketing opportunities through the Poolesville Area Community and Business Directory and the Tourism Map. We market the Poolesville Area on both a state wide and regional basis, encouraging the Heritage Tourism initiative, monitoring of government actions affecting business, and providing networking and business opportunities for Chamber members.
Our community services include publication of the Poolesville Area Community and Business Directory, the area Tourism Map, sponsorship of the Poolesville Day 5K Race, awards of college scholarships to Area high school students, contributions to the WUMCO assistance project, and support to the Poolesville High School Post Prom Party and to the 4th of July fireworks. We partner with the Town's CEDC on many town events, including the spring Business Fair and the First Friday Holiday Event in December.
Our operations are managed by a 12-person Board of Directors, which represents businesses of different types and sizes, and by a part time staff member. Volunteers from the Chamber contribute to our operations and success as well. Board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at Town Hall and any Chamber member is welcome to attend. |
